The Truth about Pirates

I am taking a course this semester on Hip Hop, Globalization and the Politics of Identity and one of out Professors did an interview with Knaan about the Somali Pirates.  Please listen to the real story behind Somali Pirates from a Somalian.

  2. sorry i deleted my post from before... not sure how to edit them.

earlier i was watching the news and they had the story of the captain being "saved" from the pirates and coming home safely... and i'm just wondering why it wasn't put into context... what i mean to say is.. why aren't we concerned with piracy as a form of desperation and survival but instead immediately view them as a threat?

and furthermore, when did black people in boats become pirates? why are we allowed to invade land, takeover ships, etc. but no one else is? are we not a land of "liberty, freedom, and justice" ?

    just wondering.

    p.s. rock on k'naan.
